(Please note that this rotation will strictly be an observership) You will be under the supervision of a physician board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. After completing residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Harvard Medical School, the preceptor completed two fellowships:
Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
Reproductive Andrology and Male Infertility
The physician has served as a faculty member in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology at such places as Harvard Medical School, Stanford University School of Medicine, and UCLA School of Medicine. The doctor has published and presented extensively, having authored many articles, abstracts, and book chapters.
What gives the doctor tremendous joy is utilizing experience and knowledge to help people become parents. The physician creates a warm and supportive environment for patients. The doctor's other passion is teaching. The preceptor has been teaching international medical students and graduates for years. The physician considers himself a mentor, and strives to help students reach their goals. During the rotation, the doctor encourages students to write, and has been successful in partnering with students to develop case reports, journal articles, and book chapters.

Please note that you will have the opportunity to work with his physician partner who is also board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. This physician is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UCLA School of Medicine, and has been training residents for many years.

How to obtain a letter of recommendation:
The rotator should ask the preceptor for a LOR near the conclusion of the rotation. Dr. Desai has provided the physician with guidelines about best practices in letter writing that meet residency program requirements. In some cases, the preceptor may ask the rotator to write a letter of recommendation draft.

One of the greatest strengths of this rotation was the emphasis on active learning. I was consistently encouraged to obtain patient histories independently and perform physical examinations whenever appropriate. This significantly improved my confidence in history-taking, physical examination skills, patient presentations, and my ability to build rapport with both pediatric patients and their families. I also gained a deeper appreciation for how textbook presentations often differ from real-world clinical practice and how patient management frequently requires individualized decision-making based on each patient's unique
circumstances.
Overall, this rotation has been one of the most valuable clinical learning experiences of my medical training...I am sincerely grateful for the mentorship and support I received throughout this experience, and I would gladly choose to rotate here again if given the opportunity.
