Information about this clinical experience:
You will be under the supervision of a board-certified family medicine physician who has an extensive background in teaching, has served in the past as chief resident, clerkship director, and family medicine residency program director. He used to serve on the faculty at several medical schools and is the recipient of multiple awards for patient care and teaching. The doctor is on the hospital staff at Medical City Healthcare. Through his involvement in the Dallas Chapter of the Texas Academy of Family Practice, he serves annually as a Judge in their Poster Competition where he evaluates the scholarly work of family medicine residents.
During your experience, you will learn the following U.S. medical practices under the preceptor’s supervision:
Taking patient histories.
Performing physical exams under the physician's supervision.
Presenting patients.
Researching the literature to answer clinical questions at the point of care.
Working with other healthcare professionals to understand their roles and responsibilities.

How to obtain a letter of recommendation:
The rotator should ask the preceptor for a LOR near the conclusion of the rotation. Dr. Desai has provided the physician with guidelines about best practices in letter writing that meet residency program requirements. In some cases, the preceptor may ask the rotator to write a letter of recommendation draft.
