Information about this clinical experience:
You will be working with a physician who has been practicing cardiology for several decades. The preceptor is on staff at hospitals within the Abrazo Health Systems and is a dedicated teacher. Much of this physician’s career was spent in New Jersey where the preceptor served as teaching faculty for students and residents. Having recently moved to Phoenix, the physician is now eager to resume teaching.
Given this physician’s expertise, you will be exposed to a range of cardiac conditions. You will encounter patients for acute visits and chronic disease management. The priority will be on developing evidence-based approaches to the evaluation and management of patients presenting with a variety of symptoms and conditions. You will learn the indications and contraindications of different cardiac tests and procedures as well acquire skills in the interpretation of these tests. This preceptor will encourage you to synthesize information from patient encounters to form assessments and plans. International medical graduates (IMGs) and students seeking US clinical experience in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine since cardiology problems are commonly encountered in these specialties.
How to obtain a letter of recommendation:

Testimonials
Dr. X provided an outstanding learning experience and created a welcoming environment from the very beginning. The doctor consistently involved learners in patient care, encouraged critical thinking, and took the time to explain clinical reasoning in a way that made complex decisions easy to understand.
One of the most valuable aspects of this rotation was observing how the doctor interacts with patients. Dr. X demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and genuine dedication to providing excellent care. The doctor's approachable teaching style and willingness to answer questions made every day an opportunity to learn.
What made this rotation especially memorable was that the lessons extended beyond medicine. Dr. X generously shared perspectives on career development, personal growth, health, finances, discipline, and work-life balance. Those conversations were just as valuable as the clinical teaching. This rotation exceeded my expectations, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from such an exceptional physician and mentor. Dr. X exemplifies the type of physician many trainees aspire to become.
