Inpatient/Outpatient US Clinical Experience in Gastroenterology

What you will do:

This is an inpatient and outpatient experience during which you will be under the supervision of a board-certified gastroenterologist. He is known for his bedside manner, and his efforts to really form connections with his patients. When we asked him what he wants IMGs to learn from his rotation, he said the following:

The art of storytelling and story listening is the most important thing I want IMGs or any other student of medicine to take away from my practice.

After a few days of observation, you will take on an increasing role in patient encounters and learn the following under the preceptor’s supervision:

  • Taking patient histories.

  • Performing physical exams under the physician's supervision.

  • Presenting patients.

Who should consider this rotation:

International medical graduates (IMGs) and students seeking US clinical experience in Gastroenterology.
