Samir Desai, MD serves on the faculty of the Baylor College of Medicine in the Department of Medicine. He has educated and mentored premedical students, medical students, residents, and international medical graduates, work for which he has received numerous teaching awards.

 

As a member of the Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine, he is deeply committed to educating and mentoring medical students. He has served on the medical school admissions and residency selection committees at the Baylor College of Medicine and Northwestern University.

MANISH SABNIS

CO-FOUNDER

Manish Sabnis is a co-founder of MD2B Connect along with Dr. Samir Desai and has been with the company since its inception. His areas of responsibility include Strategy, Operations, Finance, Process Development, Marketing, and IT. He is actively involved in all aspects of the client management process including customer communication, rotation development, documentation, logistics, and financial transactions. Manish’s goal is perfectly aligned with our clients’ goal: to advance in their medical training and become the next generation of outstanding practicing physicians.

Prior to becoming a principal at MD2B Connect, Manish spent over 23 years in the automotive industry. He had roles of increasing responsibility and titles in the areas of Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Planning, Corporate Strategy, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management. He has led teams dealing with complex, multidisciplinary projects at all levels of companies from the plant floor to the suite.

He graduated from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Master of Business Administration, and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. 

 

A common thread that has run through Manish’s life at work and outside of work is an international, multicultural connection. During his career he has made more than two dozen trips to Asia, Europe, and Latin America. As a first-generation American with parents from India, he understands the complex interaction of cultures, specifically East and West. He also spent many months traveling around the world with extended time in India and Germany. Another passion of Manish’s is mentoring. Throughout the span of his career, he has taken formal and informal roles to help young people develop their personal and professional skills to achieve their dreams. There is nothing more satisfying to Manish than to help MD2B Connect grow into a company that helps as many people as possible achieve their life’s ambition.

On the personal side, Manish lives in the Detroit, Michigan area with his wife and two daughters. He loves sports, DJ’ing, the city of Detroit, the University of Michigan Wolverines, reading, traveling and having a fun time with family and friends.

DR.RAJANI KATTA

CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICER

Dr. Rajani Katta served as Professor of Dermatology at the Baylor College of Medicine for over 17 years, following which she founded Katta Dermatology. She currently serves on the Voluntary Clinical Faculty of both the Baylor College of Medicine and the McGovern Medical School, University of Texas Houston. She is very passionate about patient and student education, and has written extensively on diet and dermatology, contact dermatitis, and medical student education. She is an award-winning educator, has been very involved in medical student education, and has authored a total of 7 books on dermatology and medical school success. She is also co-author of The Successful Match which has been listed as Suggested Reading in the AAMC Careers in Medicine. Her latest book is GLOW: The Dermatologist's Guide to a Whole Foods, Younger Skin Diet. She's deeply committed to patient education, and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Contact Dermatitis Society as well as the Program Committee of the Health Museum. She is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is certified in Culinary Medicine as well. She currently serves on the Voluntary Clinical Faculty of both the Baylor College of Medicine and the McGovern Medical School, University of Texas Houston.

ALYSSA HARLOW

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

Alyssa Harlow is the Director of Marketing at MD2B Connect and is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and managing marketing affairs. She has been a part of the MD2B Connect team for three years.

 

Having graduated from the University of Michigan - Dearborn, she received her degree in Marketing with a minor in Spanish. She has a passion for Hispanic culture and has traveled to Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. Her goal at MD2B Connect is to help people from across the world pursue their dreams of becoming a doctor, no matter what stage they’re at in their journey.

In her free time, Alyssa enjoys painting, building Legos, watching Detroit sports, reading, playing video games, and spending time with her friends and family. 

DAN MORRIS

DIRECTOR OF CLIENT SERVICES

Dan Morris is the Director of Client Services at MD2B Connect. He is responsible for the client management process including customer communication, rotations development, and logistics. His goal as the Director of Client services is to provide exceptional service for every rotator by creating a seamless and easy experience.

 

Dan graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in Psychology. His passions include traveling and cooking. After joining MD2B Connect in early 2020, it was apparent that MD2B Connect was the perfect fit for him. He is excited to help others achieve their goals on their journey in medicine.

RYAN DOWNEY

VICE PRESIDENT OF EDITING SERVICES

Dr. Ryan Downey is the Vice President of Editing Services at MD2B Connect. Early in his career, Ryan coordinated clinical drug trials for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Later, he pursued doctoral training in a multidisciplinary program focused on the cognitive neuroscience of language, where he studied the neural substrates of language processing in intact (e.g., monolingual, multilingual) and disordered (e.g., autism, different types of aphasia) populations, using a variety of behavioral and neuroimaging techniques. After receiving his Ph.D., he put his statistical and analytical skills to work at a Silicon Valley start-up developing assessments of spoken language scored using machine learning. He spent the next 12+ years in positions of increasing seniority at Pearson, Rosetta Stone, and ERB, managing teams responsible for building high-stakes educational assessments. Ryan brings to MD2B Connect almost 2 decades of expertise publishing articles in scientific journals, delivering presentations at international academic conferences, and co-authoring two book chapters on the use of artificial intelligence in assessment.

 

Ryan earned a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Michigan and an M.S. in Basic Medical Science from Wayne State University. He holds a Ph.D. from the Joint Doctoral Program in Language and Communicative Disorders from San Diego State University and the University of California–San Diego.
